We did it. We had our first Gubler Family Reunion. My parents and all my siblings/spouses/children met up August 7, 8, 9 and 10th for some memory-making experiences on the beach. It was a blast. I definitely would recommend Carlsbad, CA for a family vacation spot. We were beach bums the entire time. Rog helped our nieces and nephews build a pool on the beach. The older kids helped to build it and the one and two year olds had a great time playing in it.
Sarah loved playing on the beach! She had her first tastes of sand and liked playing with the beach toys. All of which were super tasty! (She could have done without the wading in the ocean. She likes the warm bath tub much better!

I had my first experience boogie-boarding. (We don't have a picture of me doing it, but I swear I was out there with the best of them.) I totally got swallowed by a wave the first day. But I went back again the next day. So fun. The only casualty from the boogie boarders was my oldest brother's glasses. Silly boy.
We took the "Coaster" down to Old Town San Diego for lunch one day. Sarah and her cousins loved the fast-paced train and we enjoyed the scenic views. (Lunch was fantastic too!)
Rog, Sarah and I went with some of my siblings to the Mormon Battalion visitor center in Old Town. It was neat to remember the sacrifices of the early saints and all they did to blaze the trails of the West. My mother's side has a few ancestors who were in the Battalion. Super neat exhibit. Each night was fun filled with tons of games, popcorn and great company. Rog won the RISK games two nights in a row. I guess our game-geek practices are keeping his skills sharp.
All in all it was a super fun week. Thanks Mom & Dad!
