Eight Months Old

Sarah turned 8 months old on Saturday and to celebrate we decided to take a family trip to Grand Cayman. (That sounds like a good enough reason to go, right?) We actually went the week before she turned "8 months" but it still counts. I have to say, I like the Caymans. My oldest sister Katie was nice enough to join us for a long weekend. It was great to have another set of hands with Sarah and I think she even enjoyed the trip :)

First things first. We needed food. The local Fosters has a great selection. Sarah loved riding in the shopping cart and Roger loved finding avocados that they sell by the pound instead of by "each." Needless to say we had a lot of guacamole while we were there. And I can safely say that the avacado was the size of a small cantelope!






We stayed in a place overlooking the ocean so the sunsets were easy to take in. It was storming the day we flew in so the sunset was especially pretty.





Our main excursion was going to the Stingray City Sandbar. It's far enough from the coast that you have to take a "tour boat" to get there. We signed up with Capt. Marvin's and had a great time snorkeling and playing with the stingrays. Sarah even got in the water and LOVED it. The floaty we bought for her was definitely worth it. She LOVED LOVED LOVED being able to be waist high in the bath-temperature water kicking away. Notice I am wearing a life jacket and am holding onto the life ring (and Sarah) I wasn't about to let her fall! It was also fun to see her reaction to the very tame stingrays. Eating at Calypso Grill - EVERYTHING is good there. Roger had the ceviche, snapper and creme bruelle. I had lobster bisque, canjun mahi mahi and sticky toffee pudding. Katie had the fish cakes, wahoo, and a lemon tart. Like I said SUPER tasty. though Sarah looked like she thought the lemon tart was a bit tart for her...



Rum Point - it is a drive from the 7 Mile Beach, but the smoothies are sooooo good. Rog and Katie enjoyed the snorkeling while I hung with Sarah on the beach. The water was soooo crystal clear. Sarah and I could walk out a hundred yards or so and still see the bottom. I didn't need gear to do my snorkeling!

And we can't forget the plane-ride. We were lucky enough for Sarah to get her own seat. It was GREAT! (And I got to read NEW MOON on the way home ... Yes, that's the reason you haven't heard from me lately. I just finished the three Twilight books. I can't wait for number 4 to come out next year. I LOVED the books. But I have to warn those who are going to start reading them. YES THEY ARE ADDICTING. I definitely felt like an obsessed teenager!



OK I'm finished. I'm glad Sarah takes a nap in the afternoon. This one took a long time to create.
