OK - I guess it wasn't fair to use the "8 Months Old" post to talk about our family trip instead of what Sarah's doing now. For those inquiring minds - Sarah has yet to actually crawl. She can get in the push up position - on her hands and toes and rock back and forth. She can do her hands and knees too, but the only forward motion she gets is when she rocks back far enough and thrusts herself forward for a belly flop on the carpet. It's actually quite hilarious to watch (as long as she only hits her belly - when she hits her chin too that is a little tramatic).
Other things Sarah can do:
* Sit up to play. She can sit for quite a while playing with her toys without falling over. It's fun to have her play with her little people and music toys. She seems so grown up now that she's pretty stable there.
* Eat "real people" food. Sarah had a french fry in the Caymans and tried noodles, bread and Cheerios on her 8 month birthday. She LOVED LOVED LOVED them. She's been wanting whatever I've been eating for quite a few weeks now. She's pretty proud of herself. Our little bird is pretty willing to open her mouth to pretty much everything. Yesterday when I was feeding her some pureed mixed veggies she opened wide for the food and then shuddered when she smacked her lips. But as soon as she swallowed she opened her mouth again for more. Silly girl.
* Ride in an umbrella stroller. She's graduated from the car-seat backward facing stroller and LOVES to ride facing the world. She loves meeting people on our walks. Yesterday, when we stopped by the grocery store for something she noticed that she wasn't getting her usual attention in the store. As we checked out, Sarah squaked at the person in front of us in line and the employee at the register. It was really cute.
* Ride in a shopping cart. She likes this as well. I find I need to put my bag or groceries on either side of her - in addition to buckling her - so she doesn't fall out. Sarah LOVES going to the store.
* Read books (OK, I read them, she pats the pages). Her favorite book is "Just Like Daddy." I am only a little disappointed that she likes that one better than "Just Like Mommy" because the first page in the mommy book talks about a pink and pudgy pig tummy - just like mommy. (Who came up with THAT?)
* Get her picture taken. Every time she sees the orange light with our little digital camera she busts out a huge grin. It's uncanny how it works. But it helps us get adorable shots of our little girl. (Though some of them are with her eyes closed as she's so excited when the camera flashes.)
* No more liquid poop. I know that sounds gross, but I can't be the only one that doesn't jump up and down with joy when their baby gets over the excessive blow out stage. (I know I'm not completely over it, but for the time being, it's super nice)
* Lots of babbling. You've got to love that.
Congratulations on all your awesome milestones, Sarah! I love seeing your cute new pictures. Man, all these babies are growing up so fast.
