TAG - Natalie Got Me!

So I guess I'm supposed to share 6 little-known things about myself. I will have to think pretty hard to tell things that Natalie doesn't know about. Hmmm. Most likely she will know these things, but here's my best effort. (Warning - I'm just rambling so just take it for what it's worth.)

#1 My friend Megan and I were the number one and two John Stockton Fans in 7th grade. We would come up with various rhymes like "Stockton Rocks, Stockton Rolls, Stockton's better than the Bulls." (OK, really, we were loyal. The Bulls went on to win 3 consecutive NBA championships and then three more - two against the Utah Jazz.) I would get sooo depressed after a Jazz loss and would get so defensive if anyone rubbed it in. I was also proficient at the "old" Jazz logo. I would even practice drawing it when I was bored in classes... (Natalie knew this one, but most of my non-familial relations probably didn't - unless of course you went to high school with me.)

#2 I didn't have cable when I was in elementary school because we lived too far away from the closet cable hookup. Instead of watching Nickelodeon I spent my summers outside in the Santa Clara desert making trails and forts with my siblings. Ahh, the days of a simple life!

#3 I started my own Babysitters Club when I was in 4th grade. That means I was 9 years old. I even went around the neighborhood with my friends distributing fliers. I was so bummed that people didn't call. (Who in their right mind would hire a 9 year old to babysit - even then!)

#4 Lest you think I'm some media-less person - I do have to admit I am a sucker for cheesy romance. I left my BYU physics class early on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons to watch reruns of Lois & Clark with my awesome roommate Danielle. (The funny thing is - I was a physics education major at the time and after the semester changed it to communications...And I fulfilled my Lois Lane dream by emphasizing in print journalism. I worked at "The Daily Universe" and "The Spectrum" before retiring from the newspaper world to have a family.) I think that Dean Cain was the perfect Superman! OK - so it was my guilty pleasure. I taped 75% of the episodes to watch over and over and over again. Silly me - now they have them on DVD! (See, it's not that I'm anti TV - I just know what I am capable of!)

#5 My basketball coach challenged our 8th grade team to not drink carbonation for a couple of reasons - one, because carbonation would slow you down and give you cottage cheese on your thighs. OK, so I wanted to stay in good shape, but the kicker was the cottage cheese comment. Ever since then I have avoided carbonation like the plague. (OK, so I have a few sips every once in a great while, but for the most part carbonation is OUT) I don't drink Martinelli's or root beer floats. When I do allow myself to take a few sips it usually burns my throat and I don't even enjoy it.

#6 And my best kept secret - I took a modeling class. Yes, El Cid, this is what I did when I borrowed your car once a week at BYU. There, the story is out!

Now I'm tagging Heather, Natalie P., Valinda, RedHeadsMom, Linda A., Marisa and Danielle

  1. Excellent...a modeling class. You are braver than I am. I probably wanted to, but wasn't brave enough. I remember your Lois Lane haircut too. Those must have been good days.
