President Gordon B. Hinckley

I was sitting in a youth music fireside when I received a text message from Roger telling me that President Gordon B. Hinckley had passed away. My heart sunk. How I loved our prophet. How much I knew I would miss him. Then, just a few moments later as I listened to the youth choir sing of "our journey home," I thought of what an amazing reunion President Hinckley must be having with his beloved wife Marjorie who preceded him in death a few years ago.

As I have been thinking about President Hinckley, a few experiences have come to mind. One in particular was when I was a senior in high school. The prophet came to my hometown and addressed the youth of the area in the local college arena. I was part of the youth choir and I remember the tingly feeling I had as we sang "We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet." I could feel his love for us as he entered the arena and while he spoke to us. I have had the opportunity a few additional times to hear him speak in person - while I was attending Brigham Young University and when I have attended General Conference in Salt Lake City. What special experiences!

I will always remember President Hinckley for challenging me to "Stand a Little Taller," to be a little better, to do a little more. There is always a little more good we can do.
