This is why I'm no good at journal writing

So I realize it's been a week since my last post. My excuse - uh, well ... I've been busy?

Your response: But you were busy in December and you posted almost every day.

My response: Well, technically I didn't post every day. I missed several days and did my "back-posting" trick. And I could do that because I actually was busy doing things that were worth posting about.

Your response: So what's up?

My response: It's been raining. Raining. Raining. Raining. I couldn't think of anything great to post about and so I didn't. I mean who wants to read a blog that goes like this? (And really, I guess I wasn't that busy, I just was too boring...)

Monday:
It's raining. We stayed inside. Dishes done. Work busy but caught up.

Tuesday:
It's raining. We stayed inside. Got all my laundry done.

Wednesday:
It's raining. We went to playgroup and came home and stayed inside. Dishes are done. Mary put Sarah to bed so I could listen to Elder Kikuchi speak. (OK, so I could have posted about his talk ... it was really good and him coming reminded me about my mission in Japan - he came twice to Hiroshima.)

Thursday:
It's raining. Watched Serendipity. Wanted to make pumpkin bread but didn't have any pumpkin and Roger had the car. Didn't want to go out in the rain to get a can of pumpkin. So I stayed inside. Plumbers came to replace the leaking hot water heater. Went to singing practice for the stake choir.

See I told you. Not interesting. And who wants to see pictures of rain. Not me. But today I did make progress and braved the pouring rain - mostly because I had to run errands. If I would have had a choice I probably would have stayed in yet again. Having to schlep a child around in the rain is miserable.

Friday:
Even though it's been raining all day I took Sarah out so I could print programs for stake conference. We went and visited Roger for lunch. (I bought some jeans and socks for Sarah at The Children's Place - I had a 20% off coupon and they had great clearance at an additional 50% off sales prices.) Came home for Sarah's nap. Went to Costco to pick up snacks for stake conference babysitting. Picked up Rog from work. Made dinner - Mahi Mahi with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. Yummy.

During dinner we let Sarah hold her own spoonful of mashed potatoes. And she did a pretty good job. Take a look at these photos! I'm a proud mama.

OK - that's all for tonight. I promise I will have some more interesting things to post about in the upcoming week.

  1. I agree about shlepping a child around in the rain - it sucks. I too find that the worse the weather the less my ambition. Although because we don't see much sun around here, when it does come out, it sort of freaks Nathan out, he's not sure what to do with it. I find that so sad. :)

  2. That sounds like my recent weeks...just change the rain for snow, but neither is pleasant to dress a baby for! Sometimes, you just gotta be a true stay-at-home mom and enjoy the downtime. : )
p.s. Sarah's hair is getting so long! It's adorable!
