For Sarah's birthday, her Las Vegas cousins gave her a Build-A-Bear.
If you've never gone to a Build-A-Bear Workshop, you definitely need to have the experience. (You can do it online, but I can't imagine it's that fun.)
Here's the process.
* Pick out a Bear - they have tons to choose from and not all of them are bears. I even saw a groundhog!
* Pick a Sound - My three nieces each said "I Love You Sarah" in the recorded device. It's adorable. She gets this big grin whenever I push its foot to hear the message. Sarah LOVES hearing her cousins.
* Stuff It - They have this big machine that stuffs the bear. Each of the girls took a turn stepping on the foot lever that is tied to the machine.

* Give it a Heart (or Hearts in this case) - The employee had each girl take a heart and go through a series of steps to make the heart ready to go inside of the bear. "Rub the heart on your nose so the bear knows the way home," rub the heart on your funny bone to give the bear a sense of humor," "Pat the heart between your hands to get the heart to start beating." (Those might not be the exact phrases, but you get the gist.)
My favorite was when the Build-A-Bear employee said to give the heart a kiss before putting it into the bear. Sarah decided she would put the heart in her mouth instead! Yummy!
* Dress it - Fred, Jr. & George had a great time picking out the outfit. Fred chose the skirt, Jr. the shirt and George picked out the shoes.
They did a great job. Here's George and her mommy dressing Sarah's new bear.

* Name it - We named her Jane. Her birthday is February 1, 2008. She even has a label inside her fur that indicates that it belongs to Sarah and where to send it if it gets lost.
Like I said, Sarah LOVES LOVES LOVES her bear. What a fun present. Thanks for sharing Build-A-Bear with us. Next time we will have to accessorize. Every girl needs their own teddy bear!
yes, they do have other cool stuff. the king picked out a dino! he would not pick out clothes because dinosaurs do not wear clothes!
