My Dad the Superhero

For Father's Day my sister Kim entered my Dad in a radio contest with a $5,000 entertainment system as a prize. While he didn't win (they drew out a number from a hat) her tribute did make the radio. Way to go KIM!

Now, since her brand-new blog is private I thought I would share her Superhero tribute here so you could read about how cool my dad is. We love you Dad!

There are no Super Heroes super enough for my dad—the best I can do is make a super-ego from scratch and his name is The Red Rock.

Being born and raised in Santa Clara set the stage for his “special powers.” Living in a small town where there isn’t much to do, it was only a matter of time before he realized he was unique.

With his disguise of Khaki shorts, his Red Sox shirt, and a combo of red stained socks and sandals, he is free to roam the county unchecked and under the radar able to spread good tidings, hope and sunshine everywhere.

His secret energy source of green apricots, and with his faithful companion Chloe, fuels his body in a quest to serve, protect and buoy up others.

Though he hides behind suit pants, button-up shirts and gray hair, do not underestimate his gifts, talents and strengths.

With years of scouting, moving/packing food storage, and moving family and neighbors across the states under his belt, he is not one to be trifled with.

Mild-mannered accountant by day, The Red Rock becomes a lean, mean, fighting machine after 5:00 pm, coupled by his fat and scroungy weiner dog, Chloe, they become a fearsome team who battle misfortune, bad attitudes, and weeds.

The Red Rock’s only weakness is Tuna Casserole.

His morning routine consists of waking up at the crack of dawn to go walking to strengthen ties with possible allies and to maintain his incredible physique.

Tools, such as reading glasses, a 12-year-old handkerchief and a black comb are always on his body keeping him prepared for any situation that may arise.

Reasons such as these explain why Superman and Spiderman cannot begin to give my father justice.
