Watercolor & Finger Painting

Sarah's been pretty sick these last couple of days. I should have known something was up on Sunday when I picked her up from nursery. When I walked in one of the leaders was blowing bubbles for the kids to pop. Sarah was in the very back and not getting close to the kids or the bubbles. Weird. I was pretty surprised when Jen told me Sarah was pretty mellow during nursery. Hmm... I thought ... at least she isn't being the class bully ...

Anyway, Sarah has been cutting molars and has had a slight fever with a runny nose. The last 2 1/2 days she hasn't eaten much. Even her favorite foods won't tempt her. I had to resort to putting protein powder in her milk to get some nutrients in her. She has managed to swallow a few frozen go-gurts in the last couple of days. And today she even ate 2 whole strawberries, a few Doritos chips and a handful of fish crackers. (Hey, I was just happy she would put something in her mouth.)

We have been watching movies the last couple of days as Sarah doesn't want to do really anything else. Lucky for Sarah, Mary brought down her "Chip n Dale" DVD to offset the Talking Words Factory. I rented a Sesame Street DVD about numbers from the library yesterday, but Sarah's not too into that. Sarah is now waking up in the morning, walking over to our DVD player, pointing and saying "moobee." She also does this when she wakes up from her nap or simply wanders into my room. So much for limiting her exposure to movies...

Now back to the title of this post. Since taking Sarah to playgroup and the park is definitely out right now, I busted out a new washable watercolor set. Yes, they make the paint washable. Why would you buy anything else for kids? I figured it probably was a little "old" for Sarah, but decided to try it out anyway. I stripped her down to her diaper (not really wanting to test out how "washable" these paints are). And by the way, the paints are great. After we were done I put Sarah in the tub and the paint just rinsed right off - even before I got out the soap!

Here are some of her masterpieces:

And of course, the artist:

  1. So Cute! By the way, Dora the Explorer is awesome! It is fun, educational and fun! Did I mention fun? It teaches sequencing and Spanish. My kids would tell me to hurry in Spanish. They also called for help in Spanish. It was hysterical!

  2. BTW, the numbers movie--is it Learning About Numbers?
Where do you buy washable watercolor?

  4. That picture is awesome! (beware of Dora--very annoying, and your kids begin to talk like them. High-pitched shouting--avoid like the plague!)
