There are only a few weeks before the Nov. 4th election. Here are a few updates for those of you living outside of California ... and for those of you inside the state as well.
Last week the interim director for a San Francisco charter school authorized a field trip for a first-grade class (18 five-and six-year-old students) to attend the marriage ceremony of their lesbian teacher. They couched it as a "teaching moment" about civil rights. YIKES!
Matthai Kuruvila is a religion writer at the San Francisco Chronicle. Yesterday, his article was printed in the paper. I thought it was a good representation of why Christians are so involved in getting Proposition 8 passed.
As I have had the opportunity to talk to people about Proposition 8 - the proposed amendment to the California constitution that defines marriage between a man and a woman - I have definitely felt that we are not alone in this effort. While many people are adamantly opposed to this definition, many want to uphold the sacred tradition of marriage for our society.
For those of you helping with the campaign, keep up the great work! And remember the strength that we have as related in 2 Kings 6:16: "...Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them."
Vote Yes On 8!
