Hillary does a wonderful job at making me sound like a perfect daddy, but this post will create some realistic scepticism on that notion for those that don't have the good fortune of knowing me already. This afternoon Sarah and I went down to the apartment building's first floor storage room to give Hillary some quiet time to nap. Well, Sarah was helping me clean and organize when all of a sudden I heard a snap sound followed by a very deliberate cry for help from Sarah. I could tell that this was a real cry for help (rather than the all too common 'I want something I can't have' whining cry we hear more than we care to from young independent two-year-olds). So I quickly rounded the corner to see what panic had stricken my child to see a mouse trap wrapped around her hand. Yes, it is true, I had managed to let my child get caught by a loaded mouse trap while on my watch. I think it's safe to say she now knows what those little pieces of wood with peanut butter stuck to it is. The irony in this story is Sarah was a mouse for Halloween (Angelina Ballerina to be more specific).
I assure you she is fine and I realize my first blog should have been more upbeat in nature, but let's look on the bright side... if I'm willing to incriminate myself on our family blog on my first post then there is a high probability that I will continue this habit forming mode of communication in the future.
Please note, Sarah really is doing fine and only look at the following photo with adult supervision. It is not a picture for the faint hearted.
Yeah well last year when I was still in my baby haze I went outside to find my two half naked little girls playing in the leaves in the STREET while their father calmly looked on. It was like 30 degrees outside! So at least yours wasnt an intentional thing!
ReplyDeleteOh no! Laura is too curious about those things hiding in our kitchen (so far, she can't get to them). YIKES!
ReplyDeletePoor little Sarah. But Roger, I am sure, although our darling is not quite mobile yet, that this happens to the best of parents. And I've seen you in action ... I don't think Hillary exaggerates when she talks about what a wonderful daddy you are.
ReplyDeleteWait...are you having mice problems again?
ReplyDeleteHi, Sarah looks good in her new dress. Will has gotten a new look since last week. He is very round, must be eating good. Yes he still looks like sister. Maybe that will be the look all of your children will have. Thats not bad. I had two looks.... Nancy,Roger, Crystal have the olive skin and shorter... Malissa, Jeff, Natalie and Glenn are lighter skinned and taller. You need more kids to find out your true look of your family. Love you lots. MOM Harrison.
ReplyDeleteCrystal likes to look at Sarah and William.... More pictures please. Love, Crystal
