GG/Bay 7th Annual Fun Run (and Walk)

I must either be masochistic or just dying to get out of the house. I went to bed late Friday night - around 11 pm - because I was trying to finish baking gingerbread for construction. All my gingerbread pieces are ready to assemble, now I just need to find time to make the royal icing and assemble it all and then get some candies to decorate it. I'll post about it when I've finished the project. (Hopefully tomorrow.)

Anyway, let's just say by the time I hit the pillow I was out. Will woke up at 12:30 wanting to eat. I fed him - but he only wanted a half-feeding - and he went right back to sleep. At 2:45 he was up again. This time he was ready for a super feeding. And we were up together until 4:30. Rog let me sleep in as long as possible, but we had to be at the Whisenants before 8 am so at 7:25 he woke me up asking if I was still wanting to go. I don't know how I got my super tired bones out of bed, but I did. Will wasn't up yet so I quickly pumped and got ready. My walking buddy Mary was at our place at 7:35 and we were out the door by 7:50 (only 15 minutes later than we had planned.)

We got to the start line just in time for the race to start - only to find out that Roger's leg of the race wouldn't be for another 1.5 hours ... Oh well, we were up. Mary, Will, Sarah and I set out on our 3 mile walk that took us partway across the Golden Gate Bridge. It was FREEZING! Mary willingly volunteered to carry Will in the Bjorn so she could keep a little warmer. I pushed Sarah in the stroller.

When we got back, we found that Rog had yet to go on his part of the race. He passed the time playing with Sarah on the slide. Once Rog left, I took Sarah inside and we warmed up while playing with the kids in the Whisenant's basement.

Roger signed up for one leg of the fun run. Each team consisted of 3-5 runners that ran a total of six 3 mile legs. Rog's leg consisted of running up and down a big hill and around the ball park. He had to run it twice to make the 3 miles. The hill was killer. He made great time though - averaging 7:30 minute miles. I'm pretty proud of him. He says he was "hurting" when he got back. Sarah didn't take pity on him and tackled him right after he crossed the finish line.

Here's Rog with the Golden Gate Runners (missing are Jenna & Steve). We can't wait until next year! Maybe I'll even run next time. That's a BIG maybe.

All-in-all it was a super fun morning. I'm glad we did it. And I'm glad I got to take a 2 hour nap this afternoon. Hopefully, I'll get a little more sleep tonight.
