At exactly 4:42:22 AM (PDT) a light earthquake occurred in Oakland. The earthquake hit a magnitude of 4.2 on the seismic Richter scale. Now normally an earthquake of this intensity doesn't bother many people at 4:42 in the morning. In fact, Kim and Roger slept through it. However, Sarah and I were already up. Sarah woke me up fifteen minutes earlier in anticipation of the event. I had just finished feeding her and was walking back into my room when it seemed as if all the doors in my apartment (or the one above me) had just been pushed opened with some resistance. I didn't recognize it as an earthquake at the time (silly me - you'd think I'd learn). I tried putting Sarah back down, but she was WIDE AWAKE! I suppose the excitement of the whole thing was just too much for her. Well, when daddy woke up at 5:45 I gave Sarah to him and said enjoy your workout with Sarah - I'm going back to sleep!

we got atleast 3 calls before 7 am to ask us about the earthquake we didn't feel. The wierd thing was . . . Patrick and I both woke up around 2 am and couldn't go to sleep until about 6 am. We were just wide awake. that never happens.
