Meeting Baby Madeline

Sarah and I ventured to Utah last week to visit Emily, Nate and 6-week-old Baby Madeline. We had the best time. However, for some reason, the camera didn't come out until we were leaving on Saturday!

Here's a quick run down of our outings.

Tuesday - Went to Cafe Rio for lunch (yes, I have to go each time I am in Utah) We also did a Costco run after afternoon naps!

Wednesday - Early morning Target run. We left right after Sarah woke up so that Nate could get some rest!

Thursday - Went to lunch at Pizza Factory (another home-town favorite). Emily, Madeline, Sarah and I met up with my friend Cameron from high school. It was super so fun to catch up! That night we made it for the last few minutes of Emily's RS Enrichment night. They had a BYU Professor give a class on photography and then they talked about putting together an FHE book for the ward. (Each woman is to make one lesson (and 15 or so copies) and they combine it to be a book for each woman who participates. Sounds fun!)

Friday - I got to watch both Sarah and Mady while Em took some paperwork to her school on Friday morning. I got a glimpse of what having 2 would be like. YIKES! It's a good thing that when you decide to have a baby it takes 9 months to get used to the idea! That afternoon, we visited our cousin Karen and her 4 girls. I'm sad I didn't get a picture, but here is one from their holiday card.

Just imagine Karen with her four girls, Emily with Madeline and me with Sarah all in one family room. That's 9 girls in one room. We had so much fun!

Saturday - Took pictures and drove to the airport. We were blessed to have both babies sleep on the way to SLC.

We helped Em & Mady get out of the house every day. Mission accomplished!

Other things to note:

* Sarah did fairly well sleeping - Emily was nice enough to let us share Madeline's room. Thank heaven for the noise machine. I didn't hear Sarah at all during the night!

* Emily's home isn't Sarah proof so we had to be a little creative to keep Sarah occupied. Sarah's favorite "toys" included playing the "drums" on Emily's electric piano and reading board books. I definitely need to look into getting a piano for us!

* Sarah did pretty well on the flights - I do miss having her sleep in her car seat on the plane, but at least we had a whole row to ourselves both times. But I was a proud mommy when on the return flight the guy in front of us turned around and said how good she was on the plane! I had plenty of books and treats to keep her occupied for 2 hours - she is such a busy girl! (I am just now realizing how much of a sacrifice it was for Natalie to fly with both girls by herself to SF!)

Thanks for letting us visit and hold Mady. It was such a great week! Em and Nate you are great parents! It was fun being in your home.

  1. Sarah and Mady have a very similar nose, must be a genetic thing!
