Now that I'm back to "normal" life, I guess I need to update my blog with the rest of our Utah trip. Really, it could all be summed up with swimming, games, swimming, shopping, eating out, more swimming, a baptism & ordination of our niece and nephew, and a really, really long trip back.
So those of you who are glutton for punishment, here's the long story... oh and if you think I have a great memory with all the details 2 weeks later sorry to burst the perfection bubble. I actually wrote most of it right when I got back. I just have been swamped with the San Francisco 80th Birthday Celebration (coming soon) and haven't had time to post with pictures.
Wednesday
I strained some ligaments in my back on Tuesday so Wednesday was pretty much a low-key sit at home day. I went to the doctor and got some relief, but nothing compares to Ibuprofen (which you can't take when you're pregnant). Roger and I did end up meeting Sally & Elwood for dinner at Olive Garden (sans Sarah - thanks again Jeff & Heather). After dinner Rog and I went shopping at The Children's Place - Rog was almost as bad as I was in picking out too many clothes for Sarah and Will. We had a bundle and then he looked at me and said, this is over $100. I looked back at the pile and said "No it's not" and went on picking up a few more things. We ended up with 23 items when we hit the register. The grand total: $66.62. We ended at Jeff and Heather's house playing "Ticket To Ride" for a couple of hours and then some block game on the Wii. Rog stayed up waaaaaaay too late playing that silly game. The rest of us went to sleep.
Thursday
First things first - Heather saw my loot and decided she needed to go to The Children's Place too. We left Sarah with Cassie, Jessie & the boys and headed out right at 10 am. I was "being good" and only picked up a few more items. My goal was to help Heather. However, when we got to the register, we found that they were selling socks for $0.09 each. How can you not buy a bundle? We met up with Rog, Jeff & the kids at Cafe Rio for lunch. I love that place :) That night we headed to the St. George City Pool for a birthday party for my niece and nephew. Can I just say, now that's the way to do a birthday party! The city lets you rent out the pool for 1.5 hours after it closes. You can invite anyone you want - family, friends, friends families - because it's such a big venue. And you get unlimited use of the hydrotube. (Unfortunately, I couldn't use it since I'm 5 months pregnant ...) It was super fun though! Thanks to the Fearsome Foursome for such a fun event!
Friday - More shopping.
I had to hit The Children's Place one more time! It was fun going with my sisters this time. Thankfully, Heather took pity on me and took Sarah back to her place while I shopped. That afternoon I also went shopping for myself and got a summer "pregnancy" skirt and a dress. I took pity on my feet and got myself some Tevas for walking around in San Francisco (I really shouldn't wear flip flops at this stage ...) We ended the day getting Costco pizza, cookies and clementines and meeting up with Heidi's family, Jeff & Heather's family, Malissa & Keith's family, and Roger & Sarah for dinner and swimming at my mother-in-law's pool.
Saturday
Rog, Sarah & I went swimming one last time Saturday morning. I loved having this special family time together. Sarah is getting to be quite the kicker in the pool. She loves playing "cheerleader" with Daddy. Then it was packing up and saying goodbye. I got to spend a few hours with my family playing card games while Rog spent time with his mom. That evening was MaKenzie's baptism and Kyler's Aaronic Priesthood ordination. Of course we had a fabulous dinner afterward at Jeff & Heather's home. It was super-de-duper fun! We left the festivities around 10 pm and made our way to Las Vegas. After a few hours of sleep it was off again for our trip home.
Sunday
We headed out at 4:45 am - 2 hours later than we had planned, but definitely OK. We had planned to try to make it back to our own ward for church, but compromised with Sacrament Meeting in Bakersfield (about half-way). We took our time, stopping to eat and stretch our legs often. We rolled into San Francisco at 6:30 pm. Sometime between Bakersfield and San Francisco Roger said he thought we should fly for Christmas ... He doesn't want to drive again either! YIPPEE for me!
Well, that's it. Now all I need to update is the stake celebration ...
Sounds like you had a blast here in sunny STG. And it sounds like I need to check out The Childrens Place more often! :0)
ReplyDeleteOkay, first things first, that Children's place is awesome. I CANNOT believe that you got 23 things for $66!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSecondly, Cafe Rio is fabulous!!
Why can't you wear flip flops? Are they just not comfortable for you now?
ReplyDeleteHey Look! It's Rogert & Sarah, him's baby! What's that baby's mom named again? Sorry Hill you need to leave a more lasting impression on George. :)
ReplyDeleteps I didn't misspell Roger that's what she called him.
