Sarah has hit another milestone. This one brings great joy to Roger and me. Sarah went to nursery today! Her nursery leader called yesterday to ask if we could bring a picture of Sarah for their photo board so right before heading out the door we took a quick snapshot and printed it out on a 4x6 photo card. I love technology!
SO anyway ... I was prepping Sarah on our way out the door (late of course) telling her that we were going to play with her friend Joe. To which she said, "jya?" Roger and I let her walk the few blocks to the chapel and when we were almost there she stopped at Joe's apartment building door. That girl is smart. I had to tell her that we were meeting Joe at church and then she was off running down the sidewalk. :)
When we arrived at church and opened the the nursery room door Sarah exclaimed, "Wow! Wow! Wow!", walked right over to a toy cash register, picked it up and sat down to play with it. I said "Bye" and I think she looked up at me. She was ready to be with the kids.
The report Rog got was that she did well. I heard one report that she LOVED singing time and another report that she only pushed a few kids. I hope it was just pushing and not the clawing of the face! (I did clip her fingernails this morning as damage control. We are still practicing her soft skills and she is getting better. I just am a little paranoid. I really don't want Sarah to be known as the bully...)
Anyway, it was super nice to be able to listen to the lessons in Sunday School and Relief Society. We picked Sarah up before Sacrament Meeting and she almost made it through the whole meeting - Rog took her out in the hall with 10 minutes left so our neighbors could listen to the speakers. (She was definitely ready for a nap by the end of it all).
Oh and thanks to Mary and Brandon for the super cute red dress. They brought it back for Sarah from Panama. (They went for the temple dedication a couple weeks ago - Brandon served his mission there.)
She looks so cute. And boy, what a great day in a parent's life- when your kid goes to nursery! Both of our boys are in nursery now, and it is wonderful. Clayton was born 1 1/2 months before Brian went to nursery- that was a CRAZY six weeks. But life is good now! At least until March, anyway.
ReplyDeleteYay! for Sarah! I hope she continues to have lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteMy ward took pity on me and let bubba go early, what a godsend! I love nursery.
ReplyDeleteIsn't nursery wonderful?
ReplyDeleteSarah a bully? I can't imagine...
ReplyDeleteI have this friend with a daughter almost exactly Sarah's age who just introduced her daughter to nursery. She was a little insulted when her daughter wasn't having serious seperation anxiety. I told her (while we were watching two older nursery kids totally freak out when their parents left) that she was the lucky one. Glad Sarah took to it so well. I think that is the sign of a self-confident, well-adjusted child. :)
I can't wait for nursery. Four more weeks - but who's counting anyway?
