You make the call ...

Sorry, more politics. But again it has to do with my kids, my family, my future.

I got this email today and called the Governor's Office to vote NO. Here's the lowdown on Harvey Milk Day (AB2567):

This bill would require the governor proclaim May 22 each year as Harvey Milk Day. It would encourage public schools and educational institutions to conduct suitable commemorative exercises on that date. (WHAT! My kids would have to celebrate homosexuality in school?!)

Who is Harvey Milk you say?
Harvey Milk's life and political career embody the rise of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights movement. Milk was born on May 22, 1930. He was the first openly gay person to be elected to public office in a major city, serving on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors from 1977-1978.

AB 2567 has passed the California Assembly (45-23) and the Senate (22-13) and is awaiting Governor Schwarzenegger' s signature or veto. Now, Governor Schwarzenegger is hosting a telephone poll at his office. The number is 916.445.2841. Follow the prompts regarding new legislation to cast your vote on Harvey Milk day. The call is automated and takes all of 30 seconds to do it.

  2. The thing that gets me is the we now have "winter" break instead of Christmas and heaven forbid we have an Easter party at school but now we are going to force our children to celebrate something we dont believe!?! Makes you want to home school.....or move back to Utah where it is safe! :)

  3. I believe you do have to call from a California telephone number. But I could be wrong.
