21 Months

Amidst all the excitement of the week, I can't forget to post about Sarah turning 21 months. (Especially because I don't think I did her 20-month update.) It seems as if Sarah changed from a little girl to a big girl overnight. I guess that goes with the Big Sister territory.

Sarah is becoming quite the chatterbox. I don't think I could write all of her words - she surprises me with new ones all the time. I think her favorite one right now is "Money." She says it with perfect pronunciation. "My" (for mine) is a close second. I love to hear her say "Wurv you" (love you), "Ji-Ji" (Jesus), "Peas" (please) and "Hode chu" (hold you). I also love that she is starting to "sing" along with us in church and at bedtime. It is so sweet to have her sing "I am a Child of God" with us at bedtime. She's also good at "Popcorn Popping," "If You're Happy and You Know It," and "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes." Thank you Danielle, Jen & Lindon!

Sarah is also getting to be quite fast. I thought it just because I was so big and pregnant that I couldn't keep up with her, but when she darted away from Roger and headed down the street with him running after her I realized that she's just super fast. (Lucky me!)

Sarah's graduating to more paper books. The board-book eating days may be a thing of the past. She still loves her board books, but we can also read the more "fragile" paper books together without too much worry. She especially loves the "Please and Thank You Book" from Cyndi.

As far as eating, Sarah is getting better at expanding her diet. She still has her favorites: Hummus, "cados" (avocados), "swarburees" (strawberries), apple (both apple and pineapple), rice - especially sticky rice, fries (what kid doesn't!), shells and cheese (not mac and cheese thank you ... It must be a texture thing), chicken nuggets, and so on.

She's getting quite independent. This morning when Rog went to get Sarah out of her crib this is what we found - Sarah had her diaper in one hand and her sleeper in the other. Awesome. She'll definitely be wearing the sleep sack tonight. It may even go on backwards so she can't unzip it! Sarah loves to try to put on her clothes as well, which is also fun to watch.

Sarah's hair is getting pretty long. It was so fun to be able to braid it. I think it really makes her look like a big girl.

  1. Ok, how do you get her to stay still to braid it? I can barely even get Katie's in a half ponytail!

  2. Why in the world did I not think about putting the jammies on backwards so they wouldn't come off in the middle of the night? You're a genius!
Sarah's hair looks great, do you want to come and braid Laura's?

  3. Just wanted to present an opposite view here: my child does NOT like french fries. He sucks the salt off and throws them on the ground. :) She's so cute and I bet she's aged hugely in your estimation since bringing home a tiny one. Can't wait to read about your adventures with twice the fun.
